Provider Independent (PI) address space is assigned by the RIPE NCC to you or your organisation, not to us. The space is yours, and it goes with you if you ever leave. isp6 is an automated LIR and the application is self-service. No membership needed, and no email thread.

Sized against your plan A /48 at minimum, and several sites can go on one application. Anything beyond a /48 needs justifying, by the address usage in your plan or by different routing requirements, and the RIPE NCC sets the size

Transfer in, no setup fee Already hold PI space or an ASN? Nothing new is assigned, so your account verification, £20 / €24, is the only charge before the RIPE NCC records isp6 as your sponsoring LIR. Your first annual fee is charged on 1 January after that. No exit fee Change sponsoring LIR whenever you like: settle the year in progress and the space moves with you. Line up the new sponsor first: once a sponsorship ends, RIPE NCC procedure allows ten working days to name another, then a notification and ten more, before deregistration begins

What the setup fee pays for. £50 / €60, charged once before we file, and not refunded if the application is withdrawn or declined. A re-file after a decline is not charged again. It covers the checks an application needs before the RIPE NCC sees it: verification of the person or organisation that will hold the resource, the two agreements signed electronically, and our review of the request against RIPE policy before we endorse it.
PI and an AS Number together run as one application: both setup fees are charged up front, and each resource starts its own annual sponsorship when the RIPE NCC issues it.
A readiness check
It tells you whether the request can succeed under RIPE policy before you have spent anything on an application.
Checks done by people and by the registry
Your RIPE handles and maintainer checked live against the RIPE Database, the holder verified, the sponsorship agreement and our service agreement signed electronically, and a review of the request by a person.
Registered to you
The resource is registered to you, under your own maintainer. The annual sponsorship starts on that day and not before.
The sponsoring-LIR duties
Contact validation, the registry relationship and the RIPE NCC fee, all inside the price.

Transfer to another sponsoring LIR whenever you like. We process the paperwork within five business days.
Transfer in, no setup fee
Bring resources you already hold to isp6 as your sponsoring LIR. Verify your account, then tell support which resources you hold.

PI is a RIPE NCC application, so it is measured in weeks. Need space today? A membership /48 is live in minutes.
Verify the holder
Create an account and verify your email, phone and identity (a one-off £20 / €24). Then name your application and confirm who will hold the resource: an organisation, or you in your own name. For an individual, your identity check is the proof of legal status.
Build your application
PI asks for your network topology and an addressing plan. An AS Number asks for your routing policy and at least two peering partners, each with its AS Number and a contact. An organisation uploads proof of its legal status. Then e-sign the agreements and pay the setup fee.
isp6 files it with RIPE
We review every document, endorse the application and file it. RIPE NCC staff evaluate it. On issue it is registered in the holder’s name, and you manage RPKI, route objects and reverse DNS under your own maintainer.
isp6 sponsors and files the request; the RIPE NCC decides it.
